John Childs, wearing the pajamas we brought him

Yesterday was a cold rainy day in Santiago. It began raining at 11:00 on Friday night and did not stop till 8:30 on Saturday night. Therefore it was lazy day in Santiago which is exactly what Chase and I needed. About noon, Claudia took us to look at some apartments, which were all too expensive.

Around 9:00 Chase and I set out to meet up with Andrew and his roomate Alejandra. We had some delicious pizza at a restaurant called Tiaramsu. After dinner we where supposed to attend a birthday party for one of the teachers at Traduc but we found out it was in an unsafe part of town so we headed back to Andrew's house for a glass of wine then out to a club called Notable. Clubing here is so different people are much, much more affecionate and free with their dance moves. Needless to say it was very fun I only wish that things started earlier.

Today, Chase and I woke up and went to Santiago Community church one of only two English speaking churches in Santiago. What is so interesting is that everything shuts down in Santiago on Sundays. Since we were running late we did not have time grab anything for breakfast we were starving by 12:30 and lunch is not served till at least 2:30. As we were walking home the only we found open was a Burger King. We walked in and we were the only people in the whole place. We ordered and ate only seeing one other person the entire time. Upon returning to the condo we found out that the family had been hard at work preparing very large sunday lunch.

In Chile it is customary for the entire family to get together for a long lunch beginning around 2:30 and lasting till 7:00. It begins with white wine and talking in the living room then moves into the dinning room with red wine and a large lunch. After lunch everyone goes back into the living room for more talking. Chase and I slipped out after lunch to go get a cell phone which Andrew was a huge help.

We are so ashamed but we did eat at Burger King today, it was honestly the only thing open.
I took this picture for Walker, he loves Burger King.
