Chase and I had a meeting with Traduc today which is start up organization that is looking to hire teachers to teach English. Getting to the meeting proved to be a bit interesting and true test of how much spanish we knew, which proved to be nothing. We walked to the metro and got a bip (pronounces beep) card which gets your through the turnstiles and boarded the metro with ease. After we got off the metro trying to find the building proved me much more difficult luckily everyone is very friendly and after a quick call, using a pay phone we finally found the building.
Rodrigo was there to greet us. Rodrigo or Rio is the partner in the company and could not have been more friendly. We finally have a better grasp on what we think we will be doing. In order to go universities in any English speaking country chileans have to take a test called the Toefel. So we will be tutoring mostly older people who are looking to take the test. Their business is very similiar to prep SAT or GMAT classes in the US. I find this absolutely hilarious that I am going to be teaching people how to take this kind of test because I am absolutely horrible at taking them. Hopefully, we will be able to get it all down and help people pass the test.
After the seminar on how to teach the coarse we met up with Andrew Parker, a guy from Austin that we met through Whitney Walker, who has been so helpful. He showed us around the college part of town and promised to help us get cell phones tomorrow. We are now back at the condo where we are staying and looking forward to another delicious meal with the family. Although it is a Friday I do not think we are going to be making it to any discos, we are still trying to recover from the flight down.
