The beautiful wine country and Santa Cruz

Monday morning we started the 2 1/2 hour drive south west of Santiago to the Colchagua Valley, one of the wine regions in Chile. Our first stop was the beautiful organic Anakena vineyard. This vineyard was beautiful, but the wine was not our favorite.

We had the wine tasting outside, it was such a pretty day

Our next stop was the Vui Mannet Vineyard. Chase and I have visted this vineyard before for lunch but did not have time to do the tour so we were looking forward to seeing the vineyard.

After lunch we got on a horse drawn carriage and began our tour through the vine yard. It was such a fun way to see the vineyard.

One really neat thing we got to do was try wine in the process of aging. We actually got to hold a glass up the barrles and then take a sip. While it tasted terrible it fun to get to taste process.

Megan was really thirsty

The wine tasting

After the Vui Manett we headed to Santa Cuz to the Santa Cruz hotel. We had a relaxing afternoon walking around the town and hanging out by the pool.

We freshened up and walked to Veta Bistro, a fabulous restaurant located on Vineyard in Santa Cruz. We made in time for a beautiful sunset and drinks on the patio.

Tuesday we woke up to a rainy cold day. What makes this funny is that the day before we kept hearing that it never rains this time of year. So of coarse it would rain the day we had planned to go on hike through a vineyard. So instead of hiking we took a tour of the Vineyard Montes but skipped the wine tasting by this time I think we had enough wine not to mention it was only 10:30 in the morning. After the tour we headed to the Santa Cruz museum then the santa cruz hotel for lunch. I would not recommend eating at the hotel it was by far the worst meal we had the entire trip.

Walker, Molly, Mallory and Megan waiting in the lobby of hotel Santa Cruz while we decided what to do.

There were all these little girls who wanted to practice their english so they would run up to me ask my name, if I had a pet, where I was from and how old I was. They were so cute! It made me think that maybe I should be teaching kids not adults.

Lunch at the Santa Cruz hotel

After lunch we got on the bus and headed to Valporasio. It was about 3 1/2 hour drive north but most of it was nice through wine country and along Chile's coast. As we got closer to the coast the clouds disappeared and we had another beautiful afternoon in Valporasio.

Walking around Valporasio

We found a green and gold house so we had to take picture especially since Molly and Chase where in Baylor shirts.

Everyone was tired of rich food so Walker found a pizza place close to the hotel and walked there for dinner.

There was foozeball table so of coarse my dad had to get a game going.
